Health Care Social Media Monitor was founded by Marie Ennis-O’Connor, a Public Relations practitioner with over a decade of experience working in the health sciences, university and non-profit sector. She has facilitated successful content, social and digital marketing projects for companies in the health technology, pharmaceutical, and allied healthcare fields.

Named one of Health IT’s Top 100 influencers, Marie is an internationally recognized keynote speaker, writer, and consultant on global trends in patient engagement, digital health, and participatory medicine.

She serves on the external advisory board of the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media, and on the board of trustees for the Patient Empowerment Foundation, a network of people, foundations, organizations and medical institutions dedicated to empowering patients worldwide.

In 2016 she was appointed to a panel of multi-sectoral experts in Path To Zero, the Economist Intelligence Unit’s research, policy, and advocacy initiative that aims to surface innovative strategies to support the elimination of the Hepatitis C virus.

Marie’s work is informed by her passion for embedding the patient voice at the heart of healthcare systems and values.
